The art of storytelling takes as many forms as there are storytellers. From the classic modes of storytelling the written, drawn, and spoken word to the captivating movement of film and the art and design of visualizing information in this new world of nearly unlimited data. As a distinctive human trait, storytelling permeates all aspects of our daily lives. Found in cultures throughout history, storytelling is how we share and create meaning with one another. KANEKO will celebrate the evolutionary, emotional, and creative benefits of this sacred and honored tradition.
Storytelling at KANEKO explores the creative process of storytelling and how design informs both the content and context in which stories are conveyed. Literature, illustration, cartooning, comics, theatre, dance, folklore, archiving, oral histories, photography, and film are among the forms of storytelling highlighted in this exhibition and its ancillary programs.
